Organizers Announce International Environmental Film Festival in November 2011 in San Jose, Costa Rica

San Jose, April 13, 2011 - This Wednesday officially confirmed that Criterion Environmental Film Fest (CAFF) , International Film Festival Environment in Costa Rica, will have its Second Edition 2011 in the capital, San José.


The primary objective of this Festival will help with awareness, throughout America America and the world on the urgent need to protect the environment and try to eradicate the various environmental problems that afflict our planet.


"We are working hard to have a new top-quality international event in Costa Rica. Be a big party and environmental art. The CAFF reprise the successful formula of its first edition in 2010, and consist of a series of screenings of audiovisual works and the organization of film forums, debates and seminars, to be attended by international and national experts in environment, as well as authors and producers audiovisual researchers and exponents of the first line, "said Gustavo SOLIS-MOYA, Director of the Festival.


SOLIS-MOYA said that as part of the big event this year, the possibility of appointing "Godmother of CAFF" Mrs. Francine Cousteau, president of the Cousteau Society and widow of the commander and researcher recognized Jacques-Yves Cousteau, in view of the likely creation of an Observatory Cousteau in the country, thanks to a series of negotiations that have been conducted by the University of Costa Rica, through its Center for Marine Science Research and Limnology (CIMAR) and the Centre for Development (ODD), National University, the French Institute for Central America and the French Embassy in Costa Rica, and the System of Conservation Areas MINAET.


The Festival is held in late November 2011, with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), the Municipality of San Jose, UCI - University for International Cooperation (UCI) and the CCM - Magaly Cinemas circuit, among other partners.


Luiza Carvalho, UNDP Resident Representative, Costa Rica, highlighted the objective of UNDP to support the CAFF again in its second edition, will not only inform but also educate all participants, especially youth and children, about the urgent need to protect the environment and eradicate practices that affect to impairment, "and nothing more representative than this festival takes place in Costa Rica, as this is a country committed to the advancement and projection of the environmental agenda."


The Director of Environmental Criteria reiterated that it will make a great effort to bring back programming class. For example, it is likely that the film Festival's opening film is the magnificent "Oceans", producer / director Jacques Perrin French, whose presence is expected to also have to project initiation.

Similarly, the restored version will screen the documentary "LE MONDE THE SILENCE" in 1956 by Commander Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Louis Malle director.

Overall projection is expected to more than 50 audiovisual productions related to environmental issues.

The First Edition 2010 the festival was held in La Fortuna de San Carlos, Costa Rica, and included the screening of more than 35 films, mostly documentary films, among them, 15 participated for the award of $ 4,000 , 00 (four thousand dollars) for Best Documentary Feature. Emerged victorious on that occasion the English-Argentine production "COME FOR THE GOLD COMES AROUND."
